Cornel West is the Class of 1943 University Professor of Religion, and a professor of African-American studies, at Princeton University. He won the American Book Award for Race Matters, and his most recent book is Democracy Matters: Winning the Fight Against Imperialism. In this lecture—delivered three days before the presidential election—West discusses the crisis he sees facing American democracy.

West is introduced by Devonya Havis Ph.D.’94, who teaches in Boston College’s black studies program.
