The Real State of the Union

Panel discussion inspired by the cover feature of The Atlantic Monthly’s January/February 2003 double-issue: "The Real State of the Union," a non-partisan assessment of more than a dozen major aspects of the nation’s domestic health. Michael Lind discusses political participation and unity; Roy Boshara speaks on wealth inequality; Michael Calabrese and Maya MacGuineas address household debt; and Karen Kornbluh talks about work and family. Alan Wolfe, director of Boston College’s Boisi Center for Religion and American Public Life, responds to each panelist.
The discussion is moderated by Cullen Murphy, managing editor, The Atlantic Monthly.
