In this Lowell Humanities Series lecture, Michael Massing, press critic and regular writer for the Columbia Journalism Review and the New York Review of Books, critiques the American media's reporting in Iraq, focusing on favoritism shown toward the U.S. military. Massing, named a MacArthur Fellow in 1992, is the former editor of the Columbia Journalism Review and author of The Fix: Solving the Nation's Drug Problem (Simon & Schuster, 1998) and Now They Tell Us: The American Press and Iraq (NYRB, 2004).
