John O'Malley, SJ, is a distinguished professor of Church history at the Weston Jesuit School of Theology and a former holder of Boston College's Gasson Chair. He is the author of several books on Catholicism, including The First Jesuits (Harvard University Press, 1993) and, most recently, Four Cultures of the West (Harvard University Press, 2004). He discusses his current scholarship on the Second Vatican Council in a question-and-answer session moderated by Patricia DeLeeuw, an associate vice president for academic affairs at Boston College.
