At the time of this lecture, Cheryl Jacques ’84 was the president and executive director of the Human Rights Campaign, a national bipartisan organization for gay/lesbian/ bisexual/transgender issues. A speaker at this year’s Democratic National Convention, Jacques served three terms in the Massachusetts State Senate and chaired the Massachusetts Senate Judiciary Committee. In this lecture, she positions the debate over same-sex marriage and other rights for homosexuals within the history of civil rights struggles.

Jacques is introduced by Grace Cotter Regan, executive director of the Boston College Alumni Association.
