Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Opening Celebration

The third annual Asian Pacific American Heritage Month celebration at Boston College features keynote speaker Arar Han '03, co-editor of the essay collection Asian American X: An Intersection of Twenty-First Century Asian American Voices (University of Michigan, 2004), a project she conceived while still a Boston College student. In light of the the theme of this year's celebration, “expressing identity through art,” she discusses the struggle to reconcile her own ethnic identity with the often troubling representations of Asian Americans found in popular art and advertising.
