Patrick Guerriero is the executive director of the Log Cabin Republicans, a Washington, D.C.-based Republican gay advocacy organization. He is a former Massachusetts legislator, served two terms as mayor of Melrose, Massachusetts, and was a candidate for Massachusetts lieutenant governor in 2002. Guerriero discusses the experience of being Republican and gay, and outlines his perspective on the movement for gay and lesbian civil rights—in particular, gay marriage. The Log Cabin Republicans have broken with President Bush and oppose a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage.
