Wilton Gregory, archbishop of Atlanta and former president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), gives the keynote address at the 2006 Selected Programs for Improving Catholic Education (SPICE) conference, organized by the Lynch School of Education and the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA). In his address, Gregory surveys the challenges facing Catholic urban and rural schools and responds to USCCB's 2005 statement, Renewing Our Commitment to Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools in the Third Millennium.

Gregory is introduced by Karen Ristau, president of the NCEA, after welcoming remarks by Joseph O'Keefe, SJ, dean of the Lynch School of Education; Ristau; and Glenn Anne McPhee, OP, secretary of education for the USCCB.
