For the Sake of Heaven and Earth: The New Encounter Between Judaism and Christianity

Irving Greenberg, an Orthodox rabbi, is the president of the Jewish Life Network/Steinhardt Foundation. He discusses his book, For the Sake of Heaven and Earth: The New Encounter Between Judaism and Christianity. The lecture reflects on the covenantal relationship between Judaism and Christianity, which Greenberg says demands “openness to each other, learning from each other, and a respect for the distinctiveness of the ongoing validity of each other.”
Following Greenberg’s lecture are responses from Boston College theology professor Francis X. Clooney, SJ; Philip A. Cunningham, executive director of the Center for Christian-Jewish Learning at Boston College; and Steven T. Katz, a professor in Boston University’s religion department.
