6th Annual Prophetic Voices of the Church Lecture
Peter Gomes is an American Baptist minister who, for more than 30 years, has been Harvard University’s Plummer Professor of Christian Morals and Pusey Minister in the Memorial Church. He holds 30 honorary degrees, has written several books on religion’s role in contemporary society, and has preached and lectured throughout the world. He was featured in the 1999 inaugural issue of Talk magazine in article titled, “The Best Talkers in America: Fifty Big Mouths We Hope Will Never Shut Up.”
Often humorous and irreverent, Gomes discusses the role and responsibilities of modern day preachers and offers his own views on contemporary issues in his lecture, sponsored by the Boisi Center for Religion and American Public Life.
