As president of South Africa, F. W. de Klerk initiated and presided over negotiations that resulted in the end of apartheid and the establishment of a new consitution in 1993. He and Nelson Mandela were joint recipients of the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize. His speech is sponsored by the Carroll School of Management's Winston Center for Leadership and Ethics as part of the Clough Colloquium Series, which recognizes inividuals “who have made important contributions as ethical leaders.”
