Social Contagion and Individual Health

Nicholas A. Christakis, professor of medical sociology at Harvard Medical School, studies the spread of health behaviors through social networks. For example, he calls conduct that affects weight gain or loss “contagious,” and traces its influence on a person's friends, family, and peers.
