John Tracy Ellis’s influential book, American Catholics and the Intellectual Life, three scholars comment on the document's relevance today and Catholic contributions to Amerian public intellectual life. Michael Buckley, SJ, is professor of theology at Boston College; M. Cathleen Kaveny is the John P. Murphy Foundation Professor of Law at the University of Notre Dame; and Eugene McCarraher is assistant professor of humanities and Augustinian traditions at Villanova University.

The forum is introduced by University President William P. Leahy, SJ, and moderated by Patricia DeLeeuw, associate academic vice president for faculties.
