Myles Brand is president of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). An academic philosopher, he is the former president of Indiana University, where he was burned in effigy after he dismissed basketball coach Bobby Knight for a series of physical confrontations with players. He addresses public understandings of the NCAA and collegiate athletics, including the perceptions that the NCAA is a for-profit business and that college athletes are poor academic achievers.

Brand is introduced by Eugene DeFilippo, director of athletics at Boston College.
