Nature photographer James Balog '74 is interviewed about his life and career by Robert Klein, owner of the Robert Klein Gallery on Newbury Street in Boston. Balog's work has appeared in such publications as National Geographic, Smithsonian, and Audubon. In 1996, he became the first photographer to be awarded a commission for a plate of stamps by the U.S. Postal Service. The series, depicting 15 endangered species, was inspired by his book Survivors: A New Vision of Endangered Wildlife (Abrams, 1990). His most recent book is a series of photomosaics: Tree: A New Vision of the American Forest (Barnes & Noble, 2004).

The interview was part of the seventh annual Boston College Arts Festival, at which Balog received the BC Arts Council's third annual Alumni Award for Distinguished Achievement.

Balog is introduced by Jeffery Howe, a professor in Boston College's fine arts department and chair of the BC Arts Council.
